| Through our experience
with the Medicare 5% sample and the Medicare 100%
ESRD data; MedStat, Framingham, and NHANES data;
and other large general, pharmaceutical, and disease-specific
data sets and databases,
we have developed expertise in study design, methodology,
analysis, and interpretation. Effective work with
large data sets requires efficient data manipulations
and creative approaches to analytical problems.
We have the skill and the background to apply
sophisticated statistical methods that appropriately
resolve complex bias concerns and other problems
related to the use of observational data.
We conduct utilization studies and outcome-focused studies with implications for health policy, economic analysis, and clinical practice. Our observational investigations efficiently address health services research questions. Our data systems are capable of analyzing millions of observations longitudinally. Because we access and use existing data from large databases, our observational studies are cost-effective and efficient.
Our data allow us to do follow-up studies with
specific patient groups, to analyze outcomes different
from the original study question, and to assess
off-label effectiveness of products. Through observational
studies using real-world data, we can compare
groups who were and were not deprived of care
or treatment, and address other research questions
that prospective clinical trials cannot ethically
address.
Our multidisciplinary
team includes physicians and clinical specialists
in chronic
diseases and pharmacology, who are also experienced
with clinical
trials and with large databases. We offer
an exceptional range of skills and level of expertise.
