Data & Systems Managment

CDRG’s biomedical research expertise rests on the skills of a knowledgeable and experienced team of information systems professionals with a strong understanding of the data and how to use them. Accessing federal and private raw data from Medicare (the 5% sample and the 100% ESRD sample), the Employer Group Health Plan (EGHP), MedStat, NHANES, Framingham, and other large sources, we build flexible data sets and databases that include the full spectrum of the population and represent between five- and six million lives each year.
Effectively managing raw data from large data sets requires expertise in processing, cleaning, integrating, merging, and assuring the quality of large quantities of information. Because of the breadth and depth of the data we use and our understanding of them, we can answer virtually any health services research question focused on observational studies with large population groups.

We build our databases on a Statistical Analysis System (SAS) platform and we use Relational Database Management System (RDMS) technology to organize them. From data sets based on age, sex, race, geographic region, diseases, comorbid conditions, treatments, hospitalizations, cost of care, morbidity and mortality, and other factors, we create custom database solutions unique to specific research questions and client needs.

Supported by advanced computer systems, our data warehouse includes hardware and software security measures to ensure the privacy of patient records and to protect the integrity of our data.

Working with a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, biostatisticians, and epidemiologists, we offer a full range of services related to study design, data collection, data management, data analysis, clinical trial support, and data reporting.
